New thoughts from looking at different styles of Buildings

Late in this afternoon I left my office. When I was walking on a small road toward home. I took a look at a historical building on the opposite side. Its external decorations are quite impressive - Many different styles are used for the roof, wall, balcony and doors. They look beautiful even though, Ville de Nice did not spend budget to repainting the surface. It is surprising, this building like other buildings seems is new to me every time I take a serious look at it after almost two years I have lived here. I continued to walk on a big avenue till some building caught my attention. “Art Deco “I told myself. It was obvious; the building was much simpler and used decorations which consist of basic shapes lines, triangle, etc. I soon remembered an article that I read before. It talked about the origin forming of Art Deco was after Industry revolution. People were celebrating new lifestyle with enjoying new technologies, and artist started to take inspirations from new materials and new inventions. They created works with basic shape which were similar to some parts on the machines or train. That was how the whole new movement started. Following, I asked myself, why machines and trains were made of very simple shape, not like Baroque style or other complicated decorations. Because it had to be practical- the train is huge, and carries big volume of people. It is quite difficult to maintain classic or traditional decoration designs. Oh, that’s it! Anything related to big quantity and quick speed, it links to simplicity. Let's think about cooking, if you use big quantity and simple materials to cook for a lot of people, the food will be efficient to everyone but not tasty. While if you cook for only few people with rich materials, the food could be amazingly good. This example can reflect things in our modern lives. We have seen how things can be totally changed with efficiency and simplicity. It seems a fashion trend to call things to go with simplicity! Have you thought that too much simple is boring, the lifestyle becomes standard and limited? There is going to be something in between to combine classic and modern, complicity and simplicity, and add changes, these are the keys of making tasteful and joyful creations in our society. That is the duty of designers, I realized.

Birth of Pearl

Pearl is the result of an accident; it is a beautiful creation from God. Its birth begins as an intruder who enters inside a shelled mollusk.  Then a liquid nacre is created around the intruder as a defense mechanism against the irritant, and then a pearl is formed with concentric layers of nacre, which is the same basic material as the inside layer of certain shells.

Pearl is a word of magical importance for many people, being a symbol of beauty and purity. It has given rise to legends of mystical birth from the seas. Ancients called pearls “angel’s tears’, or ‘drops of rain fell from heaven’. In Roman mythology Venus the goddess of beauty, love, pleasure and recreation was born in a sea shell, water dropped from her body and became pearls.

Love your style

Find your style and love your style! Style is so important! Because it is about revealing your individuality; tell others about who you are, and make yourself stand out from crowds. Coco Chanel said "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different".

How to find your unique style? Each of us has her/ his unique style; finding your style is about discovering yourself: to find the most essential of you, the parts you feel good and confident about yourself; then continuous practice and build YOU and your lifestyle based on your own personalities and interests. In order to radiate your style from inside to outside, it is also important to choose an outfit and proper accessories to create your image and appearance that fits to your style.

New collection Spring & Summer 2012

The designs in this collection is created during three months period since February the beginning of spring till early of May with feeling of coming summer.

In the collection, what inspired me firstly is the sunshine in Nice, Côte d'Azur: bring sunshine with blue sky, new energies send out in spring in our environment… "Sun earrings" is the representative design.

"Full stars necklace" ( on magazine cover of Univers Luxe) is inspired during my honeymoon with my husband in Sahara desert in Marocco. In the night, we are surrounded by quiet, dark and full of stars in the sky.

I love so much flowers! I created several floral jewelry designs in this collection. Specifically roses! You will find in the "Pink rose earrings". I took a photo with that earrings in a beautiful rose garden on the north east hill of Nice.

Furthermore, travel in natural beautiful places brings poesy and homony in my creation. These feeling mix naturally with my essential adoration to classic art like Baroque style, then I designed - Rome valentine necklace.

By reading Taoism, I made a Tao earrings based on its simplicity theory of live.

Knowing of many interesting events in this region, like Cannes film festival, I made a milky way glamours earring.

Light is the Source of Beauty

Light is a source of beauty and we have never tired of its varied and infinite tricks. Some can transform whole surfaces into magical enchantment to our eyes and minds, like the paintings of Impressionists. Other phenomena play with light by transparency and iridescence; the sea, the sky, the rainbow, and mother-of-pearl, which interests us most especially, because the same is true of the pearl.
Delicate and discreet, pearl does not sparkle; it glows. Pearl shows some qualities that are incomparable through humble and discreet, because they can enhance latent beauty in other things. The pearl jewellery uses the most refined resources to exercise its charm: It casts off its light so discreetly in order to beautify its mistress that it almost seems to fade away. Match a woman with the right sort of pearl jewellery and you will become aware of an imperceptible and subtle change. She will radiate with new charm. One has the impression that every pearl was waiting for the touch of her skin to justify its existence. It becomes like a drop of light that is delicately iridescent.

Appreciation of a Chinese Poem about Spring from Tang Dynasty

On the north of Gushan temple and west of Jia Pavilion; Water surface just raised to flat, brilliant rippling waves connect with white fluffy clouds.

In several places, early orioles fight for staying at sunny trees; In whose houses the new swallows are necking spring mud to build new nests?

A variety of flowers gradually came out and start to dazzle my eyes; Low grasses everywhere are just reach to the height of horse hoof.

My favourite spot is the east side of the lake: on the Baisha embankment, green willow trees extend their jade-like branches, and form shadows along my walking path. I enjoy, I stay, and I can’t have enough of it…

Enjoy the first day of Spring in 2012

Pursuing my dream

Ever since I was born, I was very sensitive to beauty. Since an age of 3 years old, I started to tie my own hair. I made many different pretty hairstyles based on what I saw in films on TV. My parents and others were amazed by my little talent at such young age.

Later on, during primary school, I was not only fascinated by fairy stories like other girls, but also I was attracted very much by classic movies from eastern and western. Furthermore I showed strong interests in music, dance and drawings, while at that time of China I was told to focus on practical studied in traditional education and afterwards had few chances to develop such interests. Aside from serious studies, I enjoyed a lot by being a serious collector of mother of pearls – iridescent shell which I found on lake sides. The dazzling display which was refracted back in my eyes from the lights on the surface of the inside shell, touched every sense of me…

Designing jewelry became my big hobby was in 2009, I quitted my job for France from China and start my adventure to explore Europe. In that particular period I was only studying France in Paris before my MBA program starts in few months. That was the first time in my life that I was setting in a completely new environment, new study and had a lot of free time to spend. I started to practice a new hobby besides others, which is to create my own jewelry by playing with all sort of used materials from old jewelries and clothing accessories. A force of creation came naturally to me and I was driven by such unpredictable passion, hence I continued to create one after another. Each design got appreciated from families and friends; therefore I started to make jewelry gifts for them. Designing and sharing provided me an amazing perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning and satisfaction.

I captured this hobby during MBA program in RSM, and it became a relaxing and joyful activity that I practice in very limited time frequently along hard studies. I was always enthusiastic to present my new designs to MBA colleges, and made some pieces to some friends as gifts. I got the idea of transferring my hobby into business after taking Entrepreneur course. I was very inspired by many successful and unsuccessful entrepreneurs’ stories during the lectures. At the end I wrote a business plan of starting my own jewelry business.  Plan wrote on paper is easy, for realizing it needs a lot of actions.

I moved to Nice in côte d'azur, “ La region du soleil” in France after MBA in Holland. The adorable climate, natural environment and rich culture of this region brought me so much joy in life and it transferred into energies for continue my jewelry designs and relevant technical learning. At the same time I discovered my love for pearl followed my childhood fascination by mother shell entered my design work and soon pearl took the major role in each of my designs. The worship for pearl inspired me to create many personal designs with my emotions and imaginations. I am a perfectionist, which I expressed to extreme level into my jewelry creations including beginning of supplier selections, material using to details in each design and fabrication. My jewelry got many positive feed backs and appreciations here in Nice, Monaco and Paris through people around me and collaborations with boutiques.

Following marketing studies in 2011, early in 2012 I am building a website with supports from my husband. In this site, I offer very fair prices with the strong wish to share utmost my jewelry collections with other women, which are the fundamental energy and motivation for my designs. I wish to communicate and interact with everyone through the online communities of my website and face book page, your feed backs help me to move forward towards my dream!

Visiting pearl suppliers in China

December of 2011, I went back to China spend short vacation with my families from France. I managed to take one day’s trip to visit my suppliers’ pearl lakes because they locate just in my hometown-Hunan province a fast developing pearl cultivation base where produces about 50% pearls in China. Certainly from internet and books relates to Pearls or cultured pearls we can learn big deal of knowledge, but I always like visiting my suppliers to understand more of the pearl producing industry by actually seeing how they organize their works, further more to understand profound and practical experience from my suppliers on pearl cultivation and managing to select good pearls.

Photos above present the pearl cultivation lake which belongs to one of my suppliers, as well his villa with impressive wooden architecture designed by my supplier himself besides a garden with wild elephant statue. From here the photo of pearl lake, you can see on the surface of the lake, there are many plastic bottles. Under each bottle hangs a mother- pearl shell. The reason for this is because when pearl nacre grows inside of their mother-shell they need oxygen and sunlight just like human beings. This way also provides easy way for checking pearls’ growing status from time to time during average 3~5 years. Important factors relating to the quality of pearls starting from the beginning – inserting tissue piece to mussel to later on maintaining good cultivation environment in the lake( such as quality and fluidity of water etc.), and particularly many methods were created to make sure sufficient nutrition in the lake for cultivation. Global, high quality pearls are produced through expertise experiences to provide good technics and methodologies, investing time, cost and energy plus a lot of patience.

Designed a set of pearl jewellery for my own wedding

Oct 8 2011, I finally tried this set of pearl jewellery with my white wedding dress. At the moment I already put on dress, I bought out my jewellery from this blue box that I kept carefully with lots of cherishes since March when I made the designs. I remembered that I was fully of happinesses, joys showed up on my face, after I founded out that they fitted perfectly together- my white wedding dress and pearl jewellery. The pearl necklace brought lights on my dress, and they looked fresh and légère compares with traditional pearl necklace; my earrings decorated my hair with two precious water drops made of pearls and the circles underlined their elegance and purity. The joy drifted around and remained long inside me, like listened a wonderful harmonised orchestral music or drank a cup of long-lasting Bordeaux red win. I was ensured profoundly that I loved the way I looked and that was how I was going to present in front of my husband soon...
